Cancer

PD-L1 expression in lung adenosquamous carcinomas compared with the more common variants of non-small cell lung cancer.

Lung adenosquamous cell carcinomas (ASCs) is a rare variant of NSCLC with a poorer prognosis and fewer treatment option than the more common variants. PD-L1 expression is reported to be the predictor of clinical response in trials of NSCLC.

PDCD1LG2 (PD-L2) RNA in situ hybridization is a sensitive, specific, and practical marker of primary mediastinal largeB-cell lymphoma

Primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMLBCL) is recognized as a distinct clinicopathological entity in the current World Health Organization classification of lymphoid neoplasms (Swerdlow et al, 2016). Gene expression profiling studies have confirmed a distinct signature in PMLBCL that differs from diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified (DLBCL, NOS) and partially overlaps with that found in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (Savage et al, 2003; Bea et al, 2005).

Up-regulation of SPARC is associated with tumor progression and epithelial SPARC expression is correlated with poor survival and MMP-2 expression in patients with breast carcinoma

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the potential involvement of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) in the progression of the breast tumor and to determine its association with outcome variables and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) expression in patients with breast carcinoma (BC). Methods: SPARC expression was examined in 8 pairs of BC tissues and surrounding normal tissues at mRNA and protein levels by qRT-PCR, RNAscope in situ hybridization (ISH), Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry techniques.

GREM1 is expressed in the cancer-associated myofibroblasts of basal cell carcinomas

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) play important roles in cancer progression through their complex interactions with cancer cells.

Identification, Isolation, and Characterization of Human LGR5-positive Colon Adenoma Cells

The intestine is maintained by stem cells, marked by LGR5 expression, located at the base of crypts. Genetically engineered mouse models have provided information about marker genes and stem cell pathways. Less is known about human intestinal stem cells due to difficulty detecting and isolating these cells.

Reference component analysis of single-cell transcriptomes elucidates cellular heterogeneity in human colorectal tumors.

Intratumoral heterogeneity is a major obstacle to cancer treatment and a significant confounding factor in bulk-tumor profiling. We performed an unbiased analysis of transcriptional heterogeneity in colorectal tumors and their microenvironments using single-cell RNA-seq from 11 primary colorectal tumors and matched normal mucosa. To robustly cluster single-cell transcriptomes, we developed reference component analysis (RCA), an algorithm that substantially improves clustering accuracy.

Comprehensive Determination of Prostate Tumor ETS Gene Status in Clinical Samples Using the CLIA Decipher Assay

ETS family gene fusions are common in prostate cancer and molecularly define a tumor subset. ERG is the most commonly rearranged member, leading to its overexpression,

SMARCB1 (INI-1)-deficient Sinonasal Carcinoma: A Series of 39 Cases Expanding the Morphologic and Clinicopathologic Spectrum of a Recently Described Entity.

To more fully characterize the clinical and pathologic spectrum of a recently described tumor entity of the sinonasal tract characterized by loss of nuclear expression of SMARCB1 (INI1), we analyzed 39 SMARCB1-deficient sinonasal carcinomas collected from multiple medical centers. The tumors affected 23 males and 16 females with an age range of 19 to 89 years (median, 52).
