RNAscope 2.0 Assay

Quercetin targets hnRNPA1 to overcome enzalutamide resistance in prostate cancer cells.

Prostate cancer remains dependent on androgen receptor signaling even after castration. Aberrant androgen receptor signaling in castration resistant prostate cancer is mediated by mechanisms such as alterations in the androgen receptor and activation of interacting signaling pathways.

Mammary tumor-derived CCL2 enhances prometastatic systemic inflammation through upregulation of IL1β in tumor-associated macrophages

Patients with primary solid malignancies frequently exhibit signs of systemic inflammation. Notably, elevated levels of neutrophils and their associated soluble mediators are regularly observed in cancer patients, and correlate with reduced survival and increased metastasis formation.

Intact piRNA pathway prevents L1 mobilization in male meiosis

The PIWI-interacting RNA (piRNA) pathway is essential for retrotransposon silencing. In piRNA-deficient mice, L1-overexpressing male germ cells exhibit excessive DNA damage and meiotic defects. It remains unknown whether L1 expression simply highlights piRNA deficiency or actually drives the germ-cell demise. Specifically, the sheer abundance of genomic L1 copies prevents reliable quantification of new insertions.

Sexual dimorphism in the inflammatory response to traumatic brain injury

The activation of resident microglial cells, alongside the infiltration of peripheral macrophages, are key neuroinflammatory responses to traumatic brain injury (TBI) that are directly associated with neuronal death. Sexual disparities in response to TBI have been previously reported; however it is unclear whether a sex difference exists in neuroinflammatory progression after TBI.

Kupffer Cell-Derived Tnf Triggers Cholangiocellular Tumorigenesis through JNK due to Chronic Mitochondrial Dysfunction and ROS

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a highly malignant, heterogeneous cancer with poor treatment options. We found that mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress trigger a niche favoring cholangiocellular overgrowth and tumorigenesis. Liver damage, reactive oxygen species (ROS) and paracrine tumor necrosis factor (Tnf) from Kupffer cells caused JNK-mediated cholangiocellular proliferation and oncogenic transformation.
