A Novel Mutation in Cse1l Disrupts Brain and Eye Development with Specific Effects on Pax6 Expression

Forward genetics in the mouse continues to be a useful and unbiased approach to identifying new genes and alleles with previously unappreciated roles in mammalian development and disease. Here, we report a new mouse allele of Cse1l that was recovered from an ENU mutagenesis screen. Embryos homozygous for the anteater allele of Cse1l display a number of variable phenotypes, with craniofacial and ocular malformations being the most obvious. We provide evidence that Cse1l is the causal gene through complementation with a novel null allele of Cse1l generated by CRISPR-Cas9 editing.

Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) is a rare disorder associated with high morbidity and mortality despite currently available treatments. We compared the phosphoproteome of lung tissue from subjects with iPAH obtained at the time of lung transplant with control lung tissue. The mass spectrometry-based analysis found 60,428 phosphopeptide features from which 6622 proteins were identified. Within the subset of identified proteins there were 1234 phosphopeptides with q<0.05, many of which are involved in immune regulation, angiogenesis, and cell proliferation.

A Contemporary Systematic Review on Repartition of HPV-Positivity in Oropharyngeal Cancer Worldwide

Significant variation in human papillomavirus (HPV) prevalence in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) across countries ranging from 11% in Brazil to 74% in New Zealand has been reported earlier. The aim of this study was to systematically review the most recently published studies on the occurrence of HPV in OPSCC globally. PubMed and Embase were systematically searched for articles assessing the occurrence of HPV+ OPSCC published between January 2016 and May 2021. Studies with a study period including 2015 and the following years were included.
