ERAD‐dependent control of the Wnt secretory factor Evi

Active regulation of protein abundance is an essential strategy to modulate cellular signaling pathways. Within the Wnt signaling cascade, regulated degradation of β-catenin by the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) affects the outcome of canonical Wnt signaling. Here, we found that abundance of the Wnt cargo receptor Evi (Wls/GPR177), which is required for Wnt protein secretion, is also regulated by the UPS through endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated degradation (ERAD).

Tbx5a lineage tracing shows cardiomyocyte plasticity during zebrafish heart regeneration

During development, mesodermal progenitors from the first heart field (FHF) form a primitive cardiac tube, to which progenitors from the second heart field (SHF) are added. The contribution of FHF and SHF progenitors to the adult zebrafish heart has not been studied to date.

Hydroxysteroid (17β) dehydrogenase 1 expressed by Sertoli cells contributes to steroid synthesis and is required for male fertility

The pituitary gonadotrophins and testosterone are the main hormonal regulators of spermatogenesis, but estradiol is also known to play a role in the process. The hormonal responses in the testis are partially mediated by somatic Sertoli cells that provide nutritional and physical support for differentiating male germ cells. Hydroxysteroid (17β) dehydrogenase 1 (HSD17B1) is a steroidogenic enzyme that especially catalyzes the conversion of low potent 17keto-steroids to highly potent 17beta-hydroxysteroids.

Quantified Co-Expression Analysis of Central Amygdala Sub-Populations

Molecular identification and characterization of fear controlling circuitries is a promising path towards developing targeted treatments of fear-related disorders. Three-color in situ hybridization analysis was used to determine whether somatostatin (Sst), neurotensin (Nts), corticotropin releasing factor (Crf), tachykinin 2 (Tac2), protein kinase c delta (Prkcd), and dopamine receptor 2 (Drd2) mRNA co-localize in male mouse amygdala neurons. Expression and co-localization was examined across capsular (CeC), lateral (CeL), and medial (CeM) compartments of the central amygdala.

Reduced lymphotoxin-beta production by tumour cells is associated with loss of follicular dendritic cell phenotype and diffuse growth in follicular lymphoma

Cytokine production is essential for follicular dendritic cell maintenance and organization of germinal centres. In follicular lymphoma, follicular dendritic cells are often disarrayed and may lack antigens indicative of terminal differentiation.
