Establishment of EBV latency in nasopharyngeal tumor epithelial cells by in vivo cell-mediated transfer infection

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a herpesvirus associated with approximately 1% of tumors worldwide. Although EBV is consistently detected in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) biopsy, it is hardly detected in normal nasopharyngeal epithelium. The mechanism how virus establishes latent infection in tumor epithelial cells, including the source of virus and the route of entry, has not been fully elucidated largely due to the lack of appropriate in vivo models. We herein aim to investigate the potential route that epithelial cells are infected with EBV.

Neuropathology of a Case With Fatal CAR T-Cell-Associated Cerebral Edema.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells are a new and powerful class of cancer immunotherapeutics that have shown potential for the treatment of hematopoietic malignancies. LGR5 is expressed in various tumors and has been identified as a putative intestinal stem cell marker. Here we investigated LGR5 expression in colorectal neuroendocrine neoplasms and analyzed the correlation with pathological characteristics. We evaluated the clinicopathological features of 8 neuroendocrine tumor (NET) grade 1 (NET G1), 4 NET Grade 2 (NET G2), and 8 NET Grade 3 (NET G3; also termed neuroendocrine carcinoma, or NEC) cases.

Expression Profile of LGR5 and Its Prognostic Significance in Colorectal Cancer Progression.

We investigated the expression profile of leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein-coupled receptor 5 (LGR5) during colorectal cancer (CRC) progression and determined the prognostic impact of LGR5 in a large cohort of CRC samples. LGR5 expression was higher in CRCs than in normal mucosa, and was not associated with other cancer stem cell markers.
