Pathogenic Characterization of a Porcine Circovirus Type 3 Isolate from Heilongjiang, China

The clinical outcome of porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3) infection is still controversial. Herein, a novel PCV3 isolate (PCV3-China/DB-1/2017) with the molecular characterization of 24A and 27K in the Cap protein was used to inoculate three-week-old cesarean-derived, colostrum-deprived piglets. The nine PCV3 DB-1 inoculated piglets exhibited no obvious clinical symptoms or macroscopic lesions.

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus Induces Vero Cell Apoptosis via the p53-PUMA Signaling Pathway

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV) is the causative agent of swine epidemic diarrhea. In order to study the pathogenic mechanism of PEDV, PEDV was inoculated into Vero cells cultured in vitro, and the total RNA of Vero cells was extracted to construct a library for Illumina high-throughput sequencing and screening of differentially expressed genes (p < 0.05). Five differentially expressed genes for qRT-PCR verification analysis were randomly selected, and the verification results were consistent with the transcriptome sequencing results.

To determine the substrate specificity of Abcb4 and Abcb5, we transfected HEK293 cells with empty vector (Vector) or with vectors encoding human _ABCB1_ (MDR-19), zebrafish _abcb4_ (ZF Abcb4), or zebrafish _abcb5_ (ZF Abcb5). We then performed cytotoxicity assays with the known human P-gp substrates etoposide, doxorubicin, and mitoxantrone.

mRNA distribution in skeletal muscle is associated with mRNA size

Skeletal muscle myofibers are large and elongated cells with multiple and evenly distributed nuclei. Nuclear distribution suggests that each nucleus influences a specific compartment within the myofiber and implies a functional role for nuclear positioning. Compartmentalization of specific mRNAs and proteins has been reported at the neuromuscular and myotendinous junctions, but mRNA distribution in non-specialized regions of the myofibers remains largely unexplored.

Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) is a molecular technique that identifies the presence and spatial distribution of specific RNA transcripts within cells. Fluorescent nanoparticle-mediated semiquantitative MYC protein expression analysis in morphologically diffuse large B-cell lymphoma

The current World Health Organization (WHO) classification defines a new disease entity of high-grade B-cell lymphoma with MYC and BCL2 and/or BCL6 rearrangements, making fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) screening for these genes mandatory. In addition, the prognostic significance of MYC expression was reported, with a cut-off value of 40%. However, interobserver discrepancies arise due to the heterogeneous intensity of MYC expression by immunohistochemistry.

micro-RNA-486-5p protects against kidney ischemic injury and modifies the apoptotic transcriptome in proximal tubules

Acute kidney injury (AKI) carries high morbidity and mortality, and effective treatments are lacking. Preclinical models support involvement of micro-RNAs (miRs) in AKI pathogenesis, although effects on the kidney transcriptome are unclear. We previously showed that injection of cord blood endothelial colony forming cell-derived exosomes, enriched in miR-486-5p, prevented ischemic AKI in mice. To further define this, we studied direct effects of miR-486-5p in mice with kidney ischemia-reperfusion injury.
