Cellular and Humoral Immunity Protect against Vaginal Zika Virus Infection in Mice.

Zika virus (ZIKV), which can cause devastating disease in fetuses of infected pregnant women, can be transmitted by mosquito inoculation and sexual routes. Little is known about immune protection against sexually transmitted ZIKV. In this study, we show that previous infection through intravaginal or subcutaneous routes with a contemporary Brazilian strain of ZIKV can protect against subsequent intravaginal challenge with a homologous strain.

Localization of Felis catus Papillomavirus Type 2 E6 and E7 RNA in Feline Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Findings from polymerase chain reaction-based methods have suggested a role of Felis catus papillomavirus 2 (FcaPV-2) in the development of feline cutaneous squamous cell

Gene Profiling of Nucleus Basalis Tau Containing Neurons in Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy: A Chronic Effects of Neurotrauma Consortium Study

Military personnel and athletes exposed to traumatic brain injury may develop chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Brain pathology in CTE includes intracellular accumulation of abnormally phosphorylated tau proteins (p-tau), the main constituent of neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs).

The human IL-15 superagonist ALT-803 directs SIV-specific CD8+ T cells into B-cell follicles

Sequestering of latent HIV in follicular helper T cells within B-cell follicles that largely exclude cytotoxic T cells is a major barrier to cellular immune-based approaches to eradicate HIV. Here, we show that the clinical-grade human interleukin-15 (IL-15) superagonist ALT-803 activates and redirects simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV)–specific CD8+ T cells from the peripheral blood into B-cell follicles.

Reconstruction of the Human Colon Epithelium In Vivo.

Genetic lineage tracing has revealed that Lgr5+ murine colon stem cells (CoSCs) rapidly proliferate at the crypt bottom.

Stabilization of Reversed Replication Forks by Telomerase Drives Telomere Catastrophe

Telomere maintenance critically depends on the distinct activities of telomerase, which adds telomeric repeats to solve the end replication problem, and RTEL1, which dismantles DNA secondary structures at telomeres to facilitate replisome progression.

Long Non-coding RNA Linc-ROR Is Upregulated in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) may contribute to carcinogenesis and tumor progression by regulating transcription and gene expression. The role of lncRNAs in the regulation of thyroid cancer progression is being extensively examined.

Inactivation of the Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide Receptor Improves Outcomes following Experimental Myocardial Infarction.

Incretin hormones exert pleiotropic metabolic actions beyond the pancreas. Although the heart expresses both incretin receptors, the cardiac biology of GIP receptor (GIPR) action remains incompletely understood. Here we show that GIPR agonism did not impair the response to cardiac ischemia.
