Outline:

Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) is transforming the understanding of disease pathogenesis, allowing the interrogation of cell populations at unprecedented resolution and enabling investigation of complex cellular and molecular function and interaction.

In this webcast, the speakers will focus on recent work using single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial mapping to characterize mesenchymal cell heterogeneity in fibrotic diseases. This work has yielded new insights into the complex interplay between scar producing mesenchymal cells and other disease specific populations in human liver disease, and uncovered functional zonation of mesenchyme in the mouse liver.

Learning Objectives:
  • Applying single-cell RNA sequencing
  • Spatial mapping through immunofluorescent staining and RNAscope™ technology
  • Characterization of mesenchymal cell heterogeneity
